tv tidbits

Here’s some TV gossip. Started watching the new Season of ER, and shock of all shocks happened. Remember from last season’s ending, Ray’s legs got amputated due to his accident and Neela was mortally injured in a stampede in an anti-war rally but saved by Lucian and Abby. Also Luka had to go back to Croatia because his father was ill. So rolls in the new season and seems like a new hierarchy with Stanley Tucci as Dr. Moretti filling in Luka’s shoes as ER chief. He offhandedly said to Abby whilst introducing himself that he is replacing her husband. Well… over the next couple of episodes, Abby stumbles back into alcoholism and in one drunken fuelled night, guess what happened? Hmm… yes it did happen. I think I knew it was coming a couple of scenes before it did but it still shocked me - Abby and Moretti. The last episode I watched was Luka coming home, but disaster of disasters has his brother tagging along with him. So I have a bad feeling about the “Lubby” (Luka-Abby) situation like everything is going to implode soon. On another side of the ER, I heard on messages posted on-line that ER bosses are trying to get Ray back to get some closure with Neela. So that’s something to follow if it ever happens. I’m still disappointed that after the Michael and Gates affairs, Neela still didn’t get on with Ray – shame on you ER writers… or is it a ploy to squeeze out the most from this story line?

Next TV gossip. Just watched the pilot episode of Dexter. It’s quirky and intriguing and can’t wait to get to the next episode in my pile of videos. (Gosh, I’ really hopeless. I’ve got like 2 months worth of TV shows in video tapes!) Anyways, Michael C. Hall is brilliant as a closet maniacal idealistic serial killer. You wouldn’t know if you ought to turn him in or applaud. I’m considering stopping watching this one on tapes and just buy the DVD release, which is what I’ve done with all the other serial shows I watch. Great adaptation of the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter.

And lastly, have you seen Simon Cowell on Oprah? He was smiling like a cat and boy I would if I was him. He was in Oprah introducing his new discovery, (well not new because the UK is about a month ahead of this US release), Leona Lewis. And as of posting this blog, Leona would have been riding the US top single for days now. She’s fab and a modern Cinderella story. You can find videos of her songs on You Tube and Yahoo Music, well probably everywhere at the moment!!! I think her second single is better than the first one… have a listen – Better in Time.

frosty landscape

A few weeks ago, Richard took a trip to pick up something in Yorkshire and I can't even remember what the item was, but what happened was when he got home he noticed that his trailer fly wheel went missing. He had an inkling as to where the poor wheel went, and so off my Richard went - wheel-hunting. And as usually is the case, things didn't go quite the way he planned. He ended up taking a hike down the hill where the wheel rooled down, but an upside to the story was he was able to take spectacular pics of the frozen landscape. Frosty as it was, everything was breathtaking.

Richard thinks this old building is spooky, maybe haunted.

In Demand

I heard Texas’s song In Demand a couple of days ago. This song always evokes bittersweet memories for me, however hearing it now; I can’t help but feel self satisfaction and a bit of conceit, to say the least.

The story behind this song was, I was single then, in a foreign country, living on my own, and just gotten over the worst relationship I ever experienced. I was happy, but not entirely. You see I’m not used to being alone. I was hoping to be with someone who would appreciate me even just for minutes at a time. Anyway, after months at work, a work colleague and I became close. I knew he was involved but at that time in my single life, I did think, can I get close but not get involved? It was like a dance, a flirtation, a mocking of the relationship he had with his girlfriend. Did I feel horror? Mmm, not really. I always believe that a man who strays is not worth keeping. So yes, I flirted with this guy and we had a very very short fling. Later on in that year, I started dating someone else, and I found out from other colleagues that he got his girlfriend pregnant and that they were getting married. So in the back of my mind I thought, a shotgun wedding then decides his fate. He in turn finds out I was dating this other guy. It took a while for word to get around because the guy I was then dating was a manager in the company I worked for and they do frown sometimes on after work relationships so we kept it on the down low. So anyway, my ex-fling approached me one day at work and after some normal chitchat, to my surprise, he indicated in not so many words, a suggestion of wanting me back. I so nearly laughed to mock him and say what for?

And yes if you are familiar with this song In Demand, this is what it’s all about. The singer/protagonist singing:

when we were together I was blown away
just like paper from a fan
but you would act like I was just a kid
like we were never gonna' last

but now I’ve got someone who cares for me, (yeah)
wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know you've lost the love of your life
(you said) I was the best you've ever had

because I’m in demand, (hey)

you're thinking of the way you should've of held my, (hand)
and all the times you'd say you didn't understand
you never had our love written in your, (plans)

but now I’m in demand

I never think you saw the best of me (ahh haa haa haa)
there's a side you'll never know
'cos love and loving are two different things (ah haa haa haa)
set your sights far too low

but now I’ve got someone who cares for me, (yeah)
he wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know you've lost the love of your life
(you said) I was the best you've ever had

because I’m in demand, (hey)

So I do think in my most conceited moments that my exes think I am the one that got away, and I do feel pleasure thinking this. Some men just can’t see the wood for the trees or are just plainly blind. And like this song… but now I’ve got someone who cares for me and he did write my name in silver sands and I am the love of his life…

funny name

"My name is Turkish. Funny name for an Englishman, I know. My parents to be were on the same plane when it crashed. That's how they met. They named me after the name of the plane. Not many people are named after a plane crash. That's Tommy. He tells people he was named after a gun, but I know he was really named after a famous 19th century ballet dancer."- Turkish, in the 2000 movie Snatch

day 77

Hungry Eyes

For a few days now, I have been feeling overly possessive of my hubby. I don’t know if it is hormones or just plain madness. Obviously I should be way too old for hormones, therefore the scales are tipping towards, the latter. Stirrings of selfishness I do not try to justify on the account of no provocation and further seeking explanation on my part will just further drive my brain to torture. I thus seek solace in the quiet enjoyment of inflicting torment on my unsuspecting husband and he in apt response just taunts me back. Do not mistake our exchanges as love games, but rather being rapturously enamoured with each other we tend towards near suffocation of each other with our unbending love. However, as years have proven us by, smother me less and I react quite the opposite as one might expect.

I know no other existence without you and like tendrils that reach out to the sun, I follow you. With each passing minute and hour only your complete dominion on me and mine on yours sustains me…

A song very well suited for my mad moment…

I've been meaning to tell you
I've got this feelin' that won't subside
I look at you and I fantasize
You're mine tonight
Now I've got you in my sights

With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I

I wanna hold you so hear me out
I wanna show you what love's all about
Darlin' tonight
Now I've got you in my sights

With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I
I've got hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With those hungry eyes
Now did I take you by surprise

I need you to see
This love was meant to be

I've got hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I
I've got hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With those hungry eyes
Now did I take you by surprise
With my hungry eyes
I need...
Hungry eyes
Now I've got you in my sights
With my hungry eyes

Do you remember this song? Let me jog your memory. It’s from Dirty Dancing by Eric Carmen. Now do you remember? I love this song. I could listen to this again and again and it just reinforces my own sonnet in my soul.

… leave me not for your absence shall defeat me. Grace my heart with your sweet smile forevermore, lest my existence cease to be, if not for you…

day 76
